Meet the provider

My name is Courtney Dwyer

Hi, I’m Courtney, and I’ve had a lifelong passion for working with children.

I grew up in a small town in Central Alberta, where I began babysitting at a young age and continued well into my early twenties. That early experience helped me realize how much I truly enjoy caring for and supporting children as they grow.

After finishing high school early, I enrolled in an Emergency Medical Responder program, graduating both from the program and high school in June. At the time, I believed I wanted to pursue a career as a Paramedic. However, after some reflection, I decided to take time off to figure out the right path for me.

Later that year, I came back to what had always felt natural—working with children. In 2020, I began the Early Childhood Education program at Lethbridge College, studying part-time while working as a nanny. Over the course of my education and career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a wide range of settings:

  • As a nanny

  • As an aid for children on the autism spectrum

  • In preschool classrooms

  • In daycare environments with children of all ages

  • In before-and-after school care programs

While completing my ECE program, I welcomed my first child into the world. Not long after graduating, I had my second. Experiencing both sides of the childcare system—first as a provider, then as a parent—deepened my understanding of what families truly need and go through while trying to find quality care.

Through these experiences, I was inspired to create a space that not only meets the needs of families, but genuinely cares for the children it serves. My goal is to offer a nurturing, responsive environment where children feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.

Why Choose Home Sweet Home

1 / Experienced, Qualified Care

As a Level 3 Early Childhood Educator, I bring a strong educational foundation and years of hands-on experience to the dayhome. I understand how to support each child’s individual needs, abilities, and interests through developmentally appropriate activities and guidance. Your child will be in capable, knowledgeable hands every day.

2 / A Warm, Home-Like Environment

Our space is designed to feel welcoming, cozy, and homey—helping children feel safe, secure, and comfortable. This kind of setting encourages strong emotional connections and smoother transitions, especially for younger children or those new to group care.

3 / Personalized Flexibility

With a low number of children in my care, I can offer a high level of flexibility to accommodate each family's unique schedule and needs. This also allows me to focus more individually on each child, ensuring they feel supported, seen, and cared for every day

4 / Best of Both Worlds

I’ve pulled the most effective concepts and practices from daycare centers—such as routines, learning activities, and social development strategies—that I personally found valuable. I'm integrating those daycare strengths with the unique benefits of a dayhome: smaller groups, more one-on-one attention, a cozy environment, and a strong sense of community. This blend allows me to offer a well-rounded childcare experience—structured yet flexible, educational yet nurturing.
